Seating In the Kitchen
Many kitchens have room for a table and chairs or possibly have bar stools at the Kitchen counter. In order to make sure that everyone can comfortably sit and still move about the Kitchen, use the following dimensions to make sure that you have supplied enough clearance for seating.
When placing a kitchen table with seating around it near a wall, there should be a clearance of at least 36" between the table edge and the wall to allow people to maneuver into the chair. When there is foot traffic that will occur behind the chair, ideally, there should be an open clearance of 72" from the table edge to the nearest obstruction.
Tables should be approximately 30" high and each chair should have a minimum of 30" of surface width.
Bar or raised seating that is 36" to 42" high should allow a minimum of 24" of table surface per chair. The depth of the surface should be at least 19" to allow for dining with a full place setting of tableware.
