Sorry, These Items Have Been Discontinued How to Use the Cake Topper Fresh Flower Holder & Arranger Soak the Oasis (the green floral foam) and plastic cage in water for at least 10 - 20 minutes. You want it to absorb the water completely throughout the foam. Remove from the water and clean the bottom of the topper (the part that will be resting on your cake top) and place on work surface. (Note: It is helpful to have a plate or cardboard underneath the topper the size of your top cake tier for reference while you are creating your arrangement.) Do not let your floral foam dry out. If it does, repeat the soaking. Prepare your flowers by cutting the stems the length required at a sharp angle to make it easier to penetrate the floral foam. If you are inserting Babies Breath of another fragile flower stem, make a very small incision in the floral foam before inserting the stem. This will keep the more delicate stems from bending while being inserted into the foam. Remove any stamens from inside the flower blossoms that contain pollen that may come loose and fall on the cake. Remove any leaves that are not necessary. You can add more greenery stems later. Now insert the flower stems into the wet floral foam until you have created the perfect flower topper arrangement for your cake. Store your finished arrangement in a cool spot or in the refrigerator until you are ready to attach it to the top of your wedding cake. While storing, place the entire arrangement in a shallow bowl or platter with water so that the foam can pull the moisture as needed. Once you are ready to attach to the top of your cake, carefully position the arrangement as desired. Insert the two anchor sticks through the anchor holes on each side of the cage and down through the cake so that at least a 1” (one inch) of the anchors are visible above the top of the anchor holes. Make sure that the anchor sticks are securely holding your floral arrangement to the top of the cake.
