Tulle Netting Tricks for Wow! Wedding Decorations

You’ve set the date for your wedding, now you want to start making plans so that it is the most special day of your life – but, on a budget.  The problem is you don’t want your wedding to look like it was planned on a budget.  The great thing is it doesn’t have to.  Below are lots of wedding decoration ideas with tulle that don’t cost a lot of money, but can make your special day look like a million dollars.

Tulle may be a bride on a budgets best friend.  Tulle netting is airy, elegant, comes in many colors to easily match your wedding colors, and doesn’t cost much at all!  The secret to tulle is to keep it very full and since it is so inexpensive for the impact it gives, there’s no reason to cut corners.

While shopping for tulle, you may be confused over the differences between tulle, netting and illusion.  The differences are Tulle is a lightweight, finely constructed, soft machine made net. Illusion is an even softer netting.
Netting is a slightly courser weave which is not quite as soft as tulle.  Netting is used for table decorations such as skirting, used under the table a filler to lift and add fullness.

Since tulle comes in so many colors,( take a look at all our affordable tulle colors available) you can select colors that will match your bridesmaid dresses and coordinate with your bouquet and wedding colors. 

If you want the tulle to really look ethereal, try this trick for a very professional looking effect. 

If one of your colors in your wedding is peach and you were thinking of purchasing some peach colored tulle for pew accents, purchase some peach and some ivory or white to layer with the peach.  By adding a layer of ivory or white you have really softened the effect of the peach tulle and given it another dimension that adds quite a bit of class and WOW.  Base the decision of whether you go with white or ivory accent tulle, by matching the color of your wedding dress.  For instance if your wedding dress is white, mix the colored tulle (any color that matches your bouquet and bridesmaid dresses) with white tulle.  If you’re wedding dress is ivory, mix the colored tulle with ivory tulle.

Since tulle doesn’t require any sewing for most applications, you can just lay the colored tulle on top of the ivory or white and bunch together before using it in the following decoration and décor ideas.  Basically the two layers of tulle are going to be used as if they were just one layer.  Get the idea?  You simply won’t believe the difference it makes in creating an elegant effect!

Tulle Garland Entry into the Church or into the Garden

Whether you’re having a garden wedding or a church wedding, line the entry into the Garden or the Church with a tulle garland.  If it is into the church either attach the bunched 54” wide tulle garland (remember 2 layers for a stunning effect) to the stair handrail with bows,silk flowers, our beautiful organza flower trim, or attach the tulle and bows to stakes that you place in the ground.  2 or 3 stakes on each side of the entrance is sufficient if it is a short entryway.  If the entrance is long, use as many stakes on each side as you like.

Tulle Garland along Church Pews for the Family Pews

Create the same concept as above with 54” wide tulle to section off the first few pews or rows of chairs that the families of the bride and groom will be seated in.  Just use the plastic pew clips that are sold for that purpose to attach the tulle to the pews or chairs (your church may already have some clips, so check before purchasing).

Bunched Tulle around Cake Table & Gift Table

Gather the 54” wide tulle (two layers of ivory or white and a color of your choice if you want a full and color dimension to the garland) and secure with a bow, silk flowers, or our beautiful organza flower trim at intervals around the table.  Begin and end on the most unviewed side (backside) of the table.

Tulle Wrapped Favors

Wrapping mints, chocolate kisses, Jordan almonds, small candles, or birdseed in tulle circles tied with a satin ribbon is one of the most beautiful and simple guest favors that a bride can create herself.  If you use two layers of tulle (one in a color and one in white or ivory) you will create a truly beautiful favor. Use a plate as your template to trace circles on the 54” wide tulle to cut the circles or purchase precut circles of tulle.
