Question: I would like to organize an create a computer study station for our 3 children. What do I need to do to make it accessible to all 3 and encourage good study habits?

Answer: When setting up a computer homework area there are 7 crucial things you should address in order to ensure that the space will work for your family.

1. Select a quiet area away from the television, traffic and congestion of the rest of the house. If your children are small and require your assistance fairly often, be sure to locate the study area near the areas you will be during study time, (example: near the kitchen, family room).

2. Install a three-pronged electrical outlet for the computer.

3. Provide access to a telephone connection to enable your children to do research for their school work on the internet.

4. Be sure that there is adequate light for reading. If there is a window nearby, you may need to position the desk so that it doesn't create a glare on the monitor screen.

5. Plan on plenty of work surface to spread out books and projects.

6. Consider adjustable height seating so that smaller children can be just as comfortable as their older brothers and sisters.

7. Provide storage for pencils, paper, computer disks and manuals.
