There are quite a few tricks you can use to make your child's small room seem larger than it is. Since space is an issue, the room will also function well if the correct furniture and finishes are used. Some of the following tips may be helpful when redecorating a child's room to make it appear larger. Keep the walls a solid color, instead of a printed wallpaper. If you want some decorations on the walls, a wallpaper border or artwork would be good choices. The color selected for the walls should be as light as possible to increase the perception of more space. The flooring should be the same or a very similar color and shade as the walls to create an unbroken line visually. Cool colors, colors with a blue undertone, will tend to recede making a room look larger than it is. Warm colors, colors with a yellow undertone may make a room seem smaller. Window treatments should be kept simple and similar in color to the walls. Use your pattern and prints ont he bedspread and accessories. Furniture can be fund and have a multipurpose, such as a raised bed with a desk underneath. A raised bunk bed with a fort underneath instead of another bed is a way to add more play space.
